The first day of Summer, when parks are peopled
we smile at each other for no particular reason
other than the darkness has been lifted
like we were taking off our clothes.
Funny though, since we’re ashamed of the sight
of nakedness. But here we are when the air is thick
and bodies play in the sun barely clothed.
We are exhibitionists teasing each other
and ourselves with these desires.
Even though it’s been raining like crazy here, today is the first day of summer. Hopefully it will feel like summer soon.

What a beautiful poem, shy exhibitionists, caught in that moment. Could be a poem about poets, Cocoyea.
Hmm it could be. Thanks.

Yeah, this is universal, this poem. Could apply in so many contexts. This is my favourite now, on this site! I love it.
Hey Maxine, glad you’re back. Thanks for the comment.

yes, very nice, and just a shame that here it rains too (for a week now) and that people are still shy and in their nakedness.
They say that the rain is suppose to stop by the end of the week, so we’ll see. Thanks for stopping by.

it is funny…the exhibitionism is sexual but not…i love the idea that we are teasing ourselves with it. that’s great.
Thanks Jason
